Warren, AR Wedding: Marquis+Ashley

Rain. That seemed to be the theme of the day. Rain. I wasn’t happy about it, but there was really nothing I could do. But when I went inside the church for the first time, you couldn’t tell that there was any disappointment due to rain. All of Ashley’s girl and Ashely herself, were in good spirits. The atmosphere was laid back. The girls were, of course, in the process of hair and make up. Ashley’s colors included rose gold and white and it was beautiful! The bridesmaids dresses, in rose gold, were sparkly and glamourous. Something you’d see right out of The Great Gastby. In fact that was the theme of this wedding. I could tell, when I met Ashely that this wedding was going to be great. She has fantastic style.

When I went to photograph the guys, there were plenty of laughs there as well. While getting ready, the guys laughed and joked, and there may have even been a little dancing. There was excitement in the air. Ashley and Marquis were hours away from promising to love each other forever.

Ashley and Marquis, you are perfect for each other! You make others want to be around you. Thank you for the honor of letting me document your first day as husband and wife.

Warren, AR Delivery: Baby Jax

I think it may be an understatement to say that I love babies. I mean, I have four. I really, REALLY love babies! They are sweet, they smell good, and every one is a miracle. I don’t say that to be cliche’. I actually mean it. To get to see a baby come into this world is breath taking. So when Shelby asked me to be there the day Jax was born, I didn’t hesitate. This one was going to be different than the last one though. This one was a scheduled C-Section. I got there around 6:30 that morning and baby Jax made his entrance not to long after that. Weighing in at 6 pounds, he was beautiful! My exact thoughts when I was snapping a few images, were ‘He looks like a baby doll’. Every feature was perfect. When I first went to Shelby’s room, everyone was calm and waiting. The atmosphere was nice. Little brother, Javen, got there not to long after I did. Along the way he was letting everyone know he was going to get a baby that day. I enjoyed every minute I was there and I’m so grateful that I got to witness love come into the world.

Justin, Shelby, and Javen, I wanna give the biggest congrats on your new addition and I can’t wait to see the fun that Javen and Jax are going to have as they grow as brothers and friends!

Tracie Hayes, 12 Years a Bride

When I was around 14 years old my dad became the pastor of a tiny little church in the middle of nowhere. It was home to the sweetest and most loving group of people that you could ask for. Among those was a girl who was close to my age. Her name was Tracie. She and I became fast friends. Fast forward many years and we are still good friends. I consider her my best friend. One of the many things we have in common is photography. She has been shooting a lot longer than I have though. She started out with film. I consider her a true artist. She has taken my family photos before and given lots of advice and even talked me out of putting down my camera. And for that, I am truly grateful.
The reason this post is titled “12 Years a Bride” is because Tracie has been married to her husband, T.J., for twelve years. But unfortunately she didn’t get any bridal photos and her wedding day was so crazy and she was very rushed. I was more than happy to give her what she missed out on all those years ago. And to top it off, she still fits in her dress. A dress that I consider beautiful, timeless, and classic.
Tracie, thank you for letting me photograph you. I hope that T.J. is surprised and blown away by your beauty. Thank you for always answering my questions and for your honesty! You are a treasure!

This is the reaction that you get when you show your beautiful friend, (who doesn’t know how beautiful she is) her photo and she is overcome with emotion instantly. I cried too.

Hermitage, AR Bridal Shoot: Cindy Ferrell

When you find good help, it’s important to hang on to it. That’s exactly what I found with Cindy about three years ago. We’ve worked together a few times and I am never disappointed with the results. She even helped me get my first commercial job. She is always a pleasure to work with and I don’t know if I’ve ever seen her not smiling. So when I wanted to get some more experience in the bridal area, I knew she was the person to call. Sure enough she was more than happy to help.

Cindy, thanks for being my model again. You know I’ll be calling you again in the future. 🙂

Warren, AR Family Session: #TeamLandon

We all know that life can be tough. It can be mean and it can be downright unfair. Things often happen that we don’t understand. Bad things that happen to good people. When a child is involved, it makes it that much more terrible. I know…that’s probably got to be the worst opening to a blog post I’ve ever written. But stick with me. I’m going somewhere with it. Not long ago, I was scrolling on Facebook and came across some news that stopped me right there and took my breath away. My friend Britny, had received news that her son, Landon, had been diagnosed with Lukemia. I sat at my computer and cried…and cried and cried. Landon isn’t even ten years old. His life is just starting. Immediately I started praying life over their situation and over Landon. I started thanking God for Landon’s healing. I started praying for peace for the Duncan family. Before this, Lukemia was one of those things that happened to families far away, that I didn’t know. I know it happens everyday and we all know someone who has received that same diagnoses, but for me this was a first. Our community rallied around Taylor, Britny, Landon, and Cash. People started doing what they could for this small family. They started helping out in all ways. Britny has been keeping us all updated on Landon. And let me tell you, prayer works! After getting the initial bad news, she got good news that things were shrinking and going away. I’m not up all of the techinal terms, so I won’t try to use and medical jargon. I just want to add that Landon is an amazing kid!! The day of our shoot, he was up for it. He didn’t complain and he kept smiling. He loves to be outside and he loves to shoot his guns. When I walked in, he was sitting on the couch getting his shoes on. Somehow he and I got on the subject of things that he likes to do. Right away he started telling me about his guns, and showing me some bullets he has, and how he loves to shoot them. He smiled the whole time. It is one of the sweetest smiles too.

Taylor and Britny, thank you for asking me to come into your home and your lives. I enjoyed spending time with you guys and I am especially thankful that my path has crossed with Landon’s. He is strong, loving, and unforgettable. Landon, I can’t wait to see you kick the crap out of cancer!!!

Hermitage, AR Engagement Session: Matthew and Annslie

There are times in life when we get to know people when we are young. Then you lose track of them and then later in your life, they are back. For some people it’s family and for others, it’s friends. That’s the way it was with Annslie and I. She and I first met when were around eight. Then, because of moving around with my family, I lost track of her. Around ten or eleven years ago, my husband and I moved back to where I am from. Probably five years after that, I saw her across the room in a restaurant, but I didn’t say hi because I didn’t think she would remember me. I have a bad habit of doing that. Then a couple of years after that, she was at a mutual friends house and she did remember me. She is a blessing and I’m blessed to know her.
A little while ago I was on scrolling on Facebook and came across Annslie’s post where she was announcing her engagement. I was very excited for her. I hadn’t gotten to meet Matthew at that point, but I figured, I would soon. Then I got asked to shoot the wedding. When I met him, I figured out that he was the perfect match for her. Annslie is a very outgoing person and Matthew is quiet and reserved. The saying, opposites attract, proved to be true. I asked Annslie how she felt when they met and she said, she knew she loved him when she didn’t want to spend another minute without him. Now that, I’d say, is true love.

Annslie and Matthew, thank you for letting me be apart of these life changing events. I’m so excited and happy for both of you. I’m glad that you have both found your one and only.

Warren Family Session: Gorman Family

I love getting to meet new families. It’s one of the highlights of my job. I recieved a message from Stacey right before Christmas about getting some photos for her daughter who was turning one. But also doing a few family shots. We decided to wait until after the New Year due to busy schedules. New Year’s came and went and it was time for Stacey and Brandon’s session. They attend one of the local churches in my town, so they had met a couple of my kiddos. And as soon as I met both of them, I felt like I had already known them. The day of the shoot, it was chilly and cloudy and it threatened to rain. We decided to go ahead and see what we could get. Let me tell you we had to work quick. It sprinkled on and off and after about ten minutes of trying, we all thought it would be best if we tried again the next day. I met them at their house and the weather was perfect. I got some great shots. The kids were a dream to work with and it was so much fun. They both kept me laughing. I am thankful that it worked out the way it did and greatful that I got to meet such a fun family.

Brandon, Stacey, Grayson, and Landry, thank you so much for allowing me to capture your beautiful family. It was an honor and I hope our paths cross again in the future.

If you look close, you can see sprinkles of rain in the background of the kids photo

Dunaway/West/Glosup

Have you ever had a group of friends who are more like family than friends? I have. I have always considered the moms of these kids my sisters. I love them very much and I consider their kids as nieces and nephews. Everytime I get to take their photos, it’s an honor. They could ask anyone and they always choose to ask me. This instance was no different. Kate, (the oldest), asked me to take some photos as a gift for her mom. I told her to bring all of her cousins along so that we could get an updated photo of all of them. It turned out very well and I’ve been waiting since before Christmas to post them.
Kate, Klayton, Maddie, Kylie, Ryder, and Austen, I love you like you are my own. And I always will.

Warren Family Session: Cathey Family

I have four children. Saying that my house is busy is an understatement. Three of my children are boys, so I can heavily identify with this family. Meet the Cathey family. I’ve posted about them before, but it wasn’t the whole family. This time everyone got in on the action. I had such a good time with them. The boys are a hoot! Joey and Cassidy have a beautiful house, so it wasn’t even a question if I was going to use it in the background. Before I got there, I knew I would. There were a couple of Bradford Pear trees starting to turn and they were a lovely Ombre’. Then, as we were finishing up, Cassidy suggested the pond out beside their house. It was ideal. As we drove through the trees, the pond came into view and it looked like a mirror. The water was absolutely still and it was a sublime backdrop. We didn’t drive very far before I figured out exactly which spot I would use. It couldn’t have been any better if I had walked out there a few hours in advance and planned it.

Joey and Cassidy, thank you for allowing me to capture your family! It was an honor!

Warren Family Session: Clark Family

First I had the pleasure of shooting Justin and Selena’s engagement, and then thier wedding. Last week Selena wrote me on Facebook and asked me to book a family session for them. We met on the 3rd and got it done. It’s always fun when I do any photos with this family. Ace is a ball of energy and I mean that in a good way. He kept me on my toes, but was very compliant and gave me a great smile. It was easy to make him laugh. And then there’s Baby Ali, who will be here very, very soon. I think Selena has around 10 weeks left. She is a beautiful pregnant person. She glows with happiness and excitement. The Clark family is a great family and I am honored to know them. I can’t wait to meet Baby Ali when she gets here.
